Are you an entrepreneur? I am, or at least, I believe I have entrepreneurial tendencies. (I actually got fired from a job once because they said, “You’re too entrepreneurial in nature and we put a lot of training in our people and we believe you’ll leave before we want you to.”—Needless to say, that sucked for me!)
What is it about being an entrepreneur? We feel like we want to create something that will have our stamp on it that we feel will provide some kind of value for someone.
Anyway, I suppose I’m writing this blog today because I want to post from time to time to discuss the journey of being an entrepreneur. The journey of starting a business from scratch and seeing if it will grow legs and stand on its own one day. Heck, not just stand but to freakin’ run in the Olympics and win the Gold! (Dream big, Baby!!)
What big dreams do you have? That is a good question! Thanks Lleslle for encouraging us all to ask ourselves that question. First of all, it is easy for us to neglect our big dreams. And second, when we do take the opportunity to think about our big dreams, we tend to make it overwhelming and well- too BIG to think about. Lastly, it is scary to verbialize our dreams. Why? Because what if we never reach our dreams? And when we verbalize our dreams, we will be held accountable to them, and must act on them. But isn’t that the idea?!? Having an Entreprenurial mind forces you to step beyond the scary doubt, even when you don’t know what the outcome will be. In the book, The E-Myth Revisted: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work & What to Do About It - Michael Gerber explains that there is an entrepreneur in each one of us: “The Entrepreneur is our creative personality- always at its best dealing with the unknown, prodding the future, creating probabilities out of possibilities, engineering chaos into harmony.” The sooner we share our big dreams and put ourselves out of our comfort zone, the sooner we start sharpening the entrepreneur inside of us. Lles-I’m definitely going to marinate on my big dreams and you will be seeing a blog on it from me soon! Thanks for the push-
